Brother Embroidery Machine

Looking fo home embroidery machine? If you want to try at a little bit of embroidery machine  without investing tons of money in a machine and you're in the market for an Embroidery field, the Brother embroidery machine PE500 is perfect entry level Embroidery only machine. The machine is very nice for a beginner, a youngster just starting out.

The Brother PE500 Problems: Needles and included thread did not work well.

While trying to use the included Brother thread, at the first I think that  i couldn't get the tension right. If you have any troubles with this machine, below will fix any issues that you think might be tension. 

• Also if having trouble, by push of a button, help screens are easily accessible, right on the machine itself
• Before adjusting the tension, make sure that your bobbin is in correctly and that you are using the correct stabilizer for the job. 
• Make sure you have a sharp needle or if using stretchy material a ball point needle. 
• Make sure your bobbin area is clean of lint and that there are no little pieces of thread caught in the tension discs. 

The Machine Refuses to sew? 

Sometimes The PE500 gets confused if there are too many tails under the material; it thinks that it's done sewing. By gently reattach the hoop from the embroidery unit check the bobbin at the same time that you cut all the trailing threads underneath and use the Adjust feature to pick stitching exactly where you left off.  

It's possible to invest another boat load of funds into embroidery machine thread. The budget PE500 embroidery machine comes with 3 spools of thread and a spool of bobbin thread. You can substitute a 'close' color if an exact match was not in the set. Polystar compatible thread works better also, as it doesn't make as much lint. 

Brother Machine Designs

The Brother PE500 machine has 70 designs, 5 font styles for lettering and monogramming, and 120 frame pattern combinations. You can do monogramming in your choice of different alphabet styles and acquire more designs via embroidery cards or transfer them from your pc via the cable that is included in this package. You have to hook it to a computer to download designs. The USB cable can be plugged into the USB port connectors on the computer and machine whether or not they are turned on. You can not use a USB stick to load embroidery designs on this machine. The "Removable Disk" icon appears in "My Computer" on the computer.

The PE500 has a limit of 12 designs that you can load on it, after done with included designs, you need to deleting some or you will get an error message.: "Reduce the number of patterns. Only up to 12 patterns can be handled.", delete patterns from "Removable Disk" so that it contains no more than 12 patterns. Then, close the error message and then press Computer (USB) key to retrieve the pattern. 

In order to retrieving patterns directly from the machine the next time that they are needed, save the data in the machine's memory before turning off the machine. If patterns copied to "Removable Disk" are not saved in the machine's memory, their data is lost when the machine is turned off.

All the Brother computerized machines use the .PES formats, and once you get this machine, you will go crazy searching for designs...:). Many more designs can be obtained from internet. But you have to remember that this machine only embroiders a limited to 4x4 inch designs (quite small compared to professional embroidery machines). There are so many pretty embroidery designs, unfortunately you can not use any of them that are larger than 4 x 4 inches. You will need some way to ensure the downloaded file is the right format, only .PES and .DST (Tajima) embroidery data files can be used with this machine.

Those Embroidery machines are still very good for doing production, however, the operating system is being loaded from floppy disk drives that are still loaded from either 3.5 inch floppy disks. Many of the manufacturers are no longer in business to support the equipment, however and  the machinery that is built to run from floppies that is still in production today. If the embroidery design files are able to be stored on say a flash drive or USB drive, through a floppy disk drive emulator, the equipment could be keep running for the long haul. Manufacturers can not afford to spend a half a million dollars on a brand new machine. The best thing would be to put a usb floppy drive emulator on old embroidery machine to do away with the old floppy drives .

How to format your USB stick for USB floppy Emulator drives

• If you have Windows XP, make sure your USB stick is 2GB or less. No limitation on Windows 7 or using our special format program.
• In the My Computer (for OS Windows XP) / Computer (for OS Windows Vista/7) window in the Device with Removable Storage section, right-click the USB drive which is required to be formatted
• Insert your USB flash drive into an open USB slot on your computer. Wait a few seconds to initialize the USB stick.
• When the USB stick is ready, a new disk drive will appear on your list of disk drives. It may be called USB, or Removable Drive, or the brand name. It may be show as drive E:, or drive F, or some other drive letter. Just  right-click on the new USB stick entry and select FORMAT.

• There'll be give a few format options. In the FILE SYSTEM option change it to say "FAT" or "FAT16". Do NOT choose "FAT32". If you do not have these options, then try to use our other format program, or Windows 7.
• You may click the Quick Format option ON.
• Click START, and the format will finish shortly. (this process deletes all data on USB stick) 
• Finnished
• Load your USB stick with your embroidery data files.

The cost of these USB emulators for embroidery machine are vary considerably. There are pros and cons to each price of the floppy disk drive emulators. Some have more options than others. Certainly some of them are significantly more expensive than others, but that is not the only criteria. One thing, he operation of your embroidery machine is no different than before. Replaces Embroidery Machine's Floppy Drive to USB Emulator

The floppy drive on your computer stopped working? Cannot write embroidery design files to floppy drive on your embroidery machines? Most of the floppy drive is no longer manufactured. How to replace your floppy drive from your embroidery machine to USB? 

Step by step replace Floppy to USB Emulator:

• Unplug the machine from any power.
• Disconnect all cables from the control head.
• Remove the plastic covers (4 screws on the back)
• Remove 2 screws from the bracket that holds the floppy drive. 
• Disconnect cables from Floppy drive.
• Remove floppy drive from holding bracket
• Install USB drive in holding bracket and plug cables into USB Drive. 

When installing the USB Floppy into the host machine, please ensure that PIN1 of the 34‐pin data cable. If the USB Floppy data cable is plugged backwards, there is a chance to damage the unit.

• Some host embroidery machine manufacturers may did not use the RED stripe correctly, and so it may be on either side at random.  In this case, please follow the ribbon cable to the motherboard socket, and there will be writing, silkscreen, on the circuit board that says 1 or 34 or both.  Follow pin 1 from there. 
• Reinstall Holding bracket with USB
• Put the plastic covers back on.
• everything back in.
• Turn machine

From now you can load embroidery design files from USB flash drive and transfer it to your design machine. No more waste of time and precious resources as you will ever require floppies ever again. By replace floppy to USBr you will have a secure and guaranteed long term reliable solution to your problem of transferring data to your industrial machines.
